Frequently asked

Everything you want to know about rust repair in Ontario.

If you can't find your answer below, message us — we'll answer you personally.

Rust repair basics

We cut it out. Every time. Corroded metal is removed back to solid steel, then a fabricated patch is welded in and sealed. No filler over rust.

Because rust is a chemical reaction. Once it's started, any rusted metal left in the panel keeps reacting under the paint. Grinding and painting hides it for one summer, then it comes back - usually worse.

Both are possible. If a factory panel is available and cost-effective we'll use it. If not - or if only a section is rusted - we fabricate a patch in raw steel and weld it in.

Rust proofing is preventative - coatings applied to slow future corrosion. Rust repair is what we do: removing corrosion that's already there and rebuilding the metal.

Cost & estimates

Small spot repairs typically start around $400-$800. Structural repairs - rocker panels, cab corners, frame rails, jack points - start higher and depend on extent and vehicle.

No. Send photos through our contact form or bring the vehicle in and we'll give you an itemized quote at no cost.

Proper rust repair is labour-intensive: cutting, fabricating, welding, grinding, sealing, priming, painting. It's why cosmetic shortcuts are cheap. It's also why they don't last.

We can discuss staged repairs - addressing the most critical structural areas first and cosmetic work later. Ask us when we quote.

Safety & inspections

Yes. Our structural repairs are welded to Ontario Motor Vehicle Inspection Standards and can be verified by any licensed inspector.

Absolutely. Rust that compromises structural components - floor pans, rocker panels, frame rails, jack points, seatbelt mounts - is grounds for failing a safety.

It often improves resale value more than the cost of the repair. And it lets you sell the vehicle certified rather than 'as-is'.

Timing & process

A small spot repair can be a couple of days. Full rocker or cab corner replacements typically run 3-7 days depending on refinishing. We give a specific timeline with every quote.

Spring and early summer. Repairing in warm weather gives coatings and seam sealers ideal cure conditions, and it means the fix is done before the next salt season.

Just bring it clean-ish so we can inspect the seams. We handle everything else.
